![]() The plot is action-packed but there are just so many truly beautiful (and heartbreaking) moments. I loved thinking about what it would be like from both Todd and Viola’s perspectives and how difficult it would be just even learning to communicate. Todd has never had to read body language before, he's never had to guess what someone is thinking or wonder if they are telling the truth. ![]() His emotional responses to Quiet, seeing children for the first time and the Herd were particularly beautiful. ![]() I just loved the concept of Noise, especially the before and after of Todd living his entire life with it, depending on it, learning to use it in both constructive and destructive ways and then being exposed to an entirely different worldview. Noise works both ways and all of these scary people can see and hear everything about you as well. It is a town of hardships and horrible pasts and angry, desperate men. How loud it would be, how completely you’d know everyone, whether you wanted to or not. Everyone in Prentisstown can hear and see everything anyone is thinking. It's messed up, gory, cruel and brutally sad. ![]() I urge you just to try it out and experience the crazy beautifulness of it yourself.Ĥ.5 stars “The Noise is a man unfiltered, and without a filter, a man is just Chaos Walking.” This was another one of those books that stressed me out in the best possible way. Note: The less you know going into this series, the better. ![]()
